When the Qiklink web page loads you will see the following 6 titles
or buttons:
Engine, Vehicle, Product, Part Number, Brand and Help. Please refer to their
sections below for a full
understanding of what these buttons can do for you.
You will also see the Search box on the right of screen. It is recommended that
you use this tool as
your main way of finding what you are after. With the right amount of
knowledge, it will get you to
where you want to go with the least amount of fuss and time.
Search Box Instruction:
The search Box will accept all types of information. To achieve the best
results I recommend that you
get to know the Qiklink codes. You will find a PDF file of these on the
Ebusiness Essentials CD.
Note: These codes have been generated using the first letter of each word of
the
item type and then minimally changed to remove duplicates. I doubt it is
optimal (popular items
should have smaller codes) so we are asking for change proposals from you, then
we will collate
them and make a one time change.
To use the Search Box simply type what you are after in the window provided and
press Enter or
click on the Go Button.
Here are some examples of how you can do this:
hold 80 This will retrieve all Vehicle and Engine information in our
database covering the year
1980 for Holden. Click on the Search Result to drill further. For example, you
could use "for" (Ford),
"toy" (Toyota) or whatever manufacturer you wish to find.
tora 80 This is a more refined search as "tora" has listed all Torana
information from
our database from that year. Once again you can click on the Search Results to
drill further.
Note: You could use "falc" (Falcon) or "cel" (Celica); whatever model of
vehicle you are after.
Now this is where we get technical. If you are sick of all the drilling you can
simply cut to the chase
by typing in one of the codes covered in the PDF file above. For example:
tora 80 -fgs This will show all the full gasket sets covering the model
of Torana found with the 1980
date. This is why you can see sets for the Torana prior to 1980 as the UC model
runs through this
date. Because this information is shown on the screen you can easily find the
full gasket set you are after.

Note: This is one of the best parts of the new Qiklink experience. Just under
the word APPLICATION
you will see the words "Holden Torana UC SL 2D Hatchback". Click on the
icon to see it's
information, from here you can also click on the Show All icon to see all the
items that are listed for this car.
Additional Button Information: You will notice the following icons
throughout your Qiklink
experience. Here are the descriptions on what these icons offer.
= Additional Information on the item, e.g. head gasket pictures, valve
spec's etc.
= Where used, lists all models that utilise this component.
= We only display results in groups of 15, this icon opens the page to
show all results.
= Displays Piston and Ring part numbers only.
= Displays Gasket information only.
= Displays Bearing information only.
= Displays Shock absorber information only.
= Displays Brake information only.
= Displays ACL items only
= Displays National Parts items only.

ENGINE:
This button will take you to Engine Search. From here you will see a set of
filters being
Date, Manufacturer, Number of Cylinders, Capacity, Fuel and Filter By. At the
bottom of this
information you will see the number of records (results) and the Show All
Button.
The filters provide various means of scaling down your search to find the
engine you are after.
Clicking on any of them will delete irrelevant information until you end up
with the engine you are
searching for.
An example of scaling down our search would be to click on "More" in the
Manufacture window and
select "Holden" by clicking on it from the Selection window. Now only Holden
information is held onto.
From here we could select 6 Cylinders from the Cylinder Information window. We
can now see "202"
in the Engine Code window. This is what we are after, we just didn't know this
at the start. The more
we drill the more detailed the information we will see. The direction you go is
up to you, the
calculations are limitless. So no matter how little information you are given
at the start you will always find your engine.

VEHICLE
Just like the Engine button described above, this time you are given filters
relating to you finding the
vehicle you are after. Simply apply the same logic you were advised of in the
Engine Button
description here to scale down your search and find the Vehicle you are after.

PRODUCT
This button is handy for the times you need to find the items we carry under a
particular product type.
Clicking on the button will display a list of the products we carry. Clicking
on the PLUS symbol next to
the product displayed in the window will give you a drop down of what is kept
under that Product type.
Click on the
icon next to the sublist of items found under Product and a window will appear
where
you can break the search down further. In the example below you see the break
down window for
Automatic Transmission. From here we can check as many boxes as we are
interested in. Then click
on the "Select & Go" button to display all items kept under these
categories.

PART NUMBER
This button will take you to the "Search For Part Number" box, similar to the
"Search Box"
found at the top of the page, only this time all model and vehicle information
has been
omitted.
This makes it a lot faster at finding the item you are after when you only know
part of the item
number you are after. I personally haven't seen a better way of finding an item
when you
only know part of the number. For instance, if you only know the middle part of
the number
you will still find what you are after, as Qiklink will do all the work for
you.
An example of this would be item number 4MKRY2151-040. Say we could only recall
the
RY215 part of the number. We simply enter RY215 into the "Search For Part
Number" box
and press enter.
Now we are advised of all items on the data base containing this sequence of
numbers.
From here we can see the item we are after. See screen print below for an
example of this
button's power.

BRAND
This button will show you all the brands we carry. Clicking on any of the brand
names will
display a list of the items found under that brand. The list is displayed in
alphanumerical order
separated by product type. Clicking on the Show All button will give you a
comprehensive list
of the items we keep under that brand.
HELP
This is the button you would have clicked on to view this documentation.
Final Word:
Qiklink is an awesome product, but it's search engines and data files are
only as good as what we give it. If you notice an irregularity or have a
suggestion on
how to improve it simply email your findings to
